Involvement / Philanthropy

Zeta Tau Alpha at USC-Aiken prides itself in being involved in both the USC-Aiken and the Aiken communities. Since 2006, our chapter has sent over $11,000 to the ZTA Foundation by sponsoring and participating in numerous community service events. Such events include:

Rock-A-Thon- This is an event in which the members of USCA ZTA rock in rocking for 24 hours in downtown Aiken in order to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness and Education. This year, our goal was $2000, and we proudly went above and beyond our goal!

Crown Classic Golf Tournament- Every year, USCA Zeta's have their Crown Classic Golf Tournament to raise money for our Foundation. As our top fundraiser bringing in an average of $5000 every year, the Tournament is held at Cedar Creek Golf Club. Members of ZTA gather 18 teams of golfers who tee off and spend the morning playing golf. Lunch is included and there is an auction where raffle tickets are sold to help raise money for the Foundation. This year is our 7th annual Crown Classic Golf Tournament and we are extremely excited. Please check our Upcoming Events page for more information, soon!

Race for the Cure- Every year, ZTAs participate in Race for the Cure across the country. This year, Susan G. Komen for the Cure celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Komen Race for the Cure, the largest series of 5K runs/fitness walks in the world, with well over 1 million participants since 2005. The Komen Race for the Cure Series raises significant funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer, celebrates breast cancer survivorship, and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease.  This October, members of USCA ZTA and ZTAs around the state will be heading to Charleston in order to participate in the annual Race for the Cure.

Yoplait's Save Lids to Save Lives- With collection boxes dispursed all around campus, we encourage students, faculty, and staff to drop in their pink Yoplait lids. For each pink lid collected, Yoplait will donate 10 cents to Susan G. Komen for the Cure AND an additional 5 cents to the ZTA Foundation. This past year, the Kappa Pi Chapter collected more than 300 lids.

THINK PINK Basketball Game at USC-Aiken- This year, ZTA teamed up with the USCA Lady Pacers for the first ever THINK PINK basketball game. During this event, members of ZTA collected tickets for the game, dispursed ZTA pink ribbons, handed out Breast Self Examination Cards, and helped with the half-time events. Schools all over the country are participating in THINK PINK basketball games to help promote breast cancer awareness and education throughout the community.

Dance Marathon- This past year, at USCA's first-ever Dance Marathon, the ladies of Zeta Tau Alpha put on their dancin' shoes in order to raise money for MCG. Laura Hutto, ZTAs current president, brought Dance Marathon to the USC-Aiken campus and from her hard work and dedication, it is now going to be an annual event. In addition, ZTA stepped up and raised the most money for Dance Marathon out of any other organization on campus!

Breast Man on Campus- Each Spring semester, students organizations are encouraged to nominate one guy for our Breast Man on Campus competition. During this, we take a picture of each man's chest & their face is not shown. From these pictures, students vote of the man with the best chest! At the end of the week, the Breast Man with the most money raised wins the overall competition! Congratulations to Kelby Heydt for winning this year's Breast Man on Campus!
